IncitED is the crowdfunding community for education where teachers and education supporters can fund, share, and replicate important education initiatives worldwide.

The latest message from the Perduco Bilingual ABC Book Project:

"In less than 24 hours, we reached our initial campaign launch goal of $1,300, which is 20% of our total fundraising goal of $6,500!  Thank you for helping us to do so: Roger L., Mark, Dori, Kathy, Rebeka, Illyse, Jennifer, Liz, John, Kristina, and Deborah!

With at least another 36 hours still left to our initial launch (48 hours), it’s quite possible we can reach 40% of our goal!  If you can, please post the campaign to your Facebook or LinkedIn page, tweet it, etc.!  We’re well on our way!  Thanks again!”

Service learning begins with understanding the communities you aim to serve. Check out this project working to do just that.

Thanks to your generosity, we made it!

Hello Dear Supporters!

With 33 hours left to go this morning, we reached our goal of $3,500.  We have hearts bursting with gratitude towards every one of you.  Any further funds we get in the last day of the campaign will go towards the printing and manufacturing of the instructional manual.  Many years of dancing and movement experience have been poured into this project and we’re so thrilled to publish the first ever Zipper Dance book.  Our tour starts in only 4 weeks!  If you know of anyone who might be interested in attending one of our workshops on the tour, they can still sign up by becoming a backer either today or tomorrow (Friday) before 6pm PST.  Your generosity is making it happen.  We can’t wait to visit many of you, share the book, and dance together!

Much Love,
James and Maia

We’ve hit the half-way mark!

With 19 days left to go, we’ve reached the half-way mark in achieving our goal.  We’re so grateful for your generosity and interest in our passion for sharing Zipper Dance with others.

This morning I saw a photograph that reminded me of Zipper Dance: the classic image of a swarming, shape-shifting flock containing thousands of small birds.  Each feathered creature is balanced in its flight surroundings so that it can help the whole group body have balanced movement and direction.  Not a single bird is defined as the leader as all the participants play off each other to form the entire flock’s expression.  Each bird has a genuine trust for one another that exists through multiple levels of communication.

So true is this in Zipper Dance.  As my teacher Mykl Werth once put it:  “Your ability to learn how to trust as you dance is something you carry with you; you can’t help it.  It’s all about growth and the potential for transforming your life.  Fear turns to love, and joy into creative dance.  It is the essence of partner dance; the balance of giving and receiving right now in this present moment.  Exploring that essence will lead us to connect and create a more balanced existence in our daily lives.”

Zipper Dance gives us the tools to play and dance like these birds.  We discover our freedom and ability to be individually creative, feed other’s creativity, and feast upon theirs.

"Saying ‘I notice you’re a nerd’ is like saying, ‘Hey, I notice that you’d rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you’d rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?’ In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even ‘lame’ is kind of lame. Saying ‘You’re lame’ is like saying ‘You walk with a limp.’ Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he’s done all right for himself."

A cool new treat from Gateway to College:"With just 12 days ‘till Christmas and gift giving on all of our minds, we are offering our network the opportunity to give a gift in honor of a student, teacher, mentor—anyone who helped you get through school, pushed you to succeed, or who inspires within you the spirit of giving back. When a new donation is made during this 12 day period (Dec. 13 to 25th), Gateway to College will honor that person with a handwritten card to let them know of your gift and thank them for inspiring you to make a generous gift in their name. This is a wonderful way to participate in the holiday season and make an impact for a student who needs our help.
